Conversation with Teungku Fachruddin, at boarding school in Indrapuri, Aceh. For three days in August, representatives from SIL International-Indonesia visited with local government and civil society leaders to gather information regarding needs and opportunities for language development, language revitalization and multilingual education in Aceh. The exploratory trip was initiated by Iskandar Bakri, who has desire to see Aceh become a multilingual community where Acehnese people are able to maintain their mother tongue as a valuable aspect of their cultural heritage, while successfully attaining fluency in Indonesian, English and other foreign languages.
